Q: Hi i have court this week for two charges that happened last week, one being a small amount a crack found on me

That was my friends, the other being a tresspassing charge. N.J.S.A. 2C:35-10A(1) AND 2C:18-3B. Ive never been in any legal trouble ever and ive been habing a very rough time since june and im really stressing out about this and im very nervous about court on thursday. Do i need a lawyer or public defender because i dont have money for that at all

A: Of course although you've told us what you are charged with, you have not given us the violation numbers but in general you'd be at least looking at a third degree crime which can carry 3 to 5 years in jail. This is just the penalty foremost crack charges. Do you need a lawyer that is up to you but most people I think would say yes definitely.
