Q: If I get a ticket for speeding in construction zone, will I have to go to court? What if I am out-of-town on date set?

A: It would be a required court appearance. An attorney may be able to represent you in your absence and ensure the ticket is resolved favorably. You may file a motion at the Clerk’s Office to change the court date as well if you prefer.

A: Yes, you will have to appear in court. If you are not able to appear in Court on the date set you could do a couple of things. You could file a Motion to Advance the case to a date prior to the original Court date. You could hire an attorney to assist you and that attorney will either file a Motion to Advance or handle the matter on the original Court date without you having to appear. Your best option is to hire an attorney and the sooner you hire an attorney, the better.
