I agree with my colleague. The father’s name on a birth certificate does not grant the father any rights in the state of Georgia. It is best to contact an attorney who can assist you with obtaining parental rights.

A: No. Until the father obtains an order of legitimation, he has no rights to custody or visitation. His ability to visit with the child is within the sole discretion of the mother.
