A: As a legal matter, yes, you can. As a practical matter, you would have to discuss this with a few lenders until you find one that is willing to lend. The lender will not only look at how much you want to borrow in relation to the value of the property (called loan-to-value or LTV, the lower the better) but also your ability to make the monthly mortgage payments. They will be looking for an acceptable credit rating and a sufficient and reliable source of income for repayment of the loan.
