Q: I'm 17 and hit a car's bumper and damages are minimal but I'd like to pay out of pocket so my parents won't find out.
will my parents be notified by the police?
A:
A Virginia attorney could advise you in the best manner, but your post remains open for two weeks. No one here can make that decision for you; that is something you will have to decide. No one can tell you whether your parents will find out either. If that does happen, it is probably likelier to happen from their insurance carrier (if the other side makes a claim through their insurance and their insurance seeks to recover it from your parents insurance for the vehicle you were driving) than it is from the police on such a minimal accident. But if the other side later claims injuries, your parent's insurance company would most likely contact them to verify the claim, and your parents could tell you that they wished you had told them. These are only some things to think about; ultimately, the choice is yours. Good luck
