Chicago, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: I live in Missouri. I am 52 years old with nothing on my driving record for at least 13 years. Bought SUV and got

no insurance ticket hours later heading home. One month ago I received a car as a gift for my girlfriend and I. We put her plates on it to drive it home and got ticketed for that. Both tickets occurred in Illinois. Court for both is next month.

A: Bring proof of the new insurance and the new registration to court. You should be eligible for court supervision and a fine, which would prevent a license suspension.

A: Get proper insurance on the SUV and show that in court and request Court Supervision. Get proper registration on the other vehicle and show that in court, but you will likely want to hire an attorney for the improper use of plate ticket because it is a criminal offense.
