Q: 2 infractions for same thing possible?
Hello, I am a truck driver with a class a cdl. In November I was going down hill and also did not realize the speed limit had dropped. I ended up getting pulled over by an undercover and hit with a speeding 15+. I got a letter from my state, IL saying that I’ve got 2 infractions and one more will cause me to lose my license. The thing is it says the 2 infractions are for the same ticket? Can I do anything about this?
A: It sounds like there was a miscommunication somewhere along the line or there is a misunderstanding. It takes two 'serious' moving violations (i.e. speeding 15+) in a commercial vehicle within 3 years to cause a CDL disqualification. It would take 3 moving violations in your personal vehicle within a 12 months period to cause a suspension of your regular driving privileges. Contact an attorney that practices in the county where you received the ticket(s) to assist.

A: There is a 12-month look back. Did you have a prior ticket in a 12 month period?

A: You need to look at the communication closer. It is likely for two different tickets but the same type of offense.
