Aurora, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: Hi. Is there anyway to get old traffic tickets waived? I have a $700 no Insurance ticket from 1997 I need to pay.

Or at least get it lowered?

A: It may be possible to file a motion to vacate and bring the ticket back into court. If you show proof of new (after acquired) insurance the fines may be reduced. It will not be dismissed unless you show proof of insurance from the date of offense in 1997.

A: It all depends on where you have to be in court, but the longer you wait the harder it will be. You really should hire an attorney to assist you with this matter and the sooner you do that, the better.
