Q: Does dismissal of a Ga criminal case void any authorization provided by police to have a vehicle impounded?

Vehicle Was impounded due to arrest subsequently arrest and charge was dismissed unfortunately vehicle was sold by towing company Because they were not following the abandoned motor vehicle laws and I was told it's now a civil matter but I want to make it a criminal matter also but unable to find a lawyer who will Take the case on a contingency fee basis

A: Depends. If the vehicle has already been impounded, then no. The authorization was valid when they impounded it and that does not change after the fact. If the vehicle has not been impounded yet, the dismissal could possibly prevent the vehicle being impounded based on the dismissed charges.

A: I agree with my colleague. Additionally, it is a civil case that you should pursue against the company who towed your vehicle. You cannot “make it a criminal matter,” that is at the discretion of the District Attorney/State, not private citizens.
