A: Being a teenager doesn’t keep you out of jail, but the charge will keep you out of jail if you only get charged with speeding. Slow down, there’s no reason to be going 90mph.

A: Speeding can be charged as a misdemeanor or a petty misdemeanor. A misdemeanor is a crime with a maximum 90 days of jail. A petty is not a crime: no jail is possible. If charged with a misdemeanor, a court appearance is usually required. But you have the right to challenge a petty misdemeanor - but you have to request a court date on a petty.
