Q: How to start on a step parent adoption
Hello, my husband would like to adopt my son. We’ve been together 4 years and my son’s biological father had his parental rights terminated in 2014. Do we need to hire a lawyer or is it possible to file the paperwork with the court ourselves?
Thank you!
A: It is possible to file the paperwork yourselves, but that is not advisable. There are a number of procedures that you will need to be familiar with in order to efficiently complete your step-parent adoption. I highly recommend that you hire an attorney to complete this for you.

A: It would be wise to work with an attorney for this to ensure that everything is properly handled. -Homer P. Jordan IV, Esq. 404-620-1558
A: How exciting for your family! Legalizing your husband's relationship with your son is so important. Adoptions, while exciting, are complex legal proceedings, and taking one wrong step can make what should be a joyful occasion, frustrating! Getting an experienced attorney, like me, will ensure that the process is done correctly and all you have to worry about is where you will be displaying the adoption certificate! We would love to be of service to your family.
