Mcdonough, GA asked in Child Support for Georgia

Q: CHILD SUPPORT MODIFICATION IN GA

My ex wife and I were divorced two years ago. We have a 6 year old daughter, who we have share custody of (equal time). However, the courts labeled her as primary physical parent. I recently remarried and had a son and a step daughter, plus a wife whom doesnt work. I pay 350.00 a month in child support. She is remarrying in two weeks. Would it be worth trying to modify the child support arrangement where I pay less. She makes roughly 46k a year and I am unsure how much her husband makes. I make roughly 58k a year, which is more than when we got divorced.

A: $350 is such a low amount that it likely would not be worth it to try to file to lower it.

A: It depends. $350 does not appear to be a lot. Her new husband’s income would not be taken into consideration and your step child would not be considered a dependent for you. We can set up a consultation to go into more detail if you would like. Call us if you would like to schedule something
