Q: my son has gotten 2 minor speeding ticketes in IL, the second one we got supervision. he is now a student in WY,...
while in Wy he got another speeding ticket. Do we need to get an attorney so it doesnt hit his record? Does IL and WY communicate with each other. how can we best beat this.
A: The difficulty you can run into is that not all states have supervision or a similar deferral. If not maybe it can be reduced to a non moving violation. Most states are required by the Compact to report to other states. not all of them do.

A: Your best bet is to find an attorney in WY to try to have the ticket reduced to a non-moving violation, which will not impact his record in Illinois. Certain states are better than others at communicating with one another.

A: Your best option is to hire an attorney in WY. You need to make sure to tell the WY attorney that your son has an IL license and that he is at risk of having his license suspended due to the WY ticket. The WY ticket needs to be amended to a non-moving violation, such as an equipment violation, no seat belt or other non-moving violation.
