Elmhurst, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: Will a judge dismiss my case if I get the info after being pulled over but before the court date?

So 3 months ago I got pulled over because i didn't have a license plate on the beater i had just bought. I Had no insurance on it as well. The state trooper said if i get insurance on it by end of day and get in contact with the former owner of the vehicle before the court date the judge will dismiss it. I got insurance on it same day and i got a new bill of sale for it. About 2 weeks later I bought a different vehicle and it's registered and has the same insurance on it but i took my truck off the insurance and added the van (I'm currently pregnant) will the judge dismiss it after I give proof that i insured the truck the same day and have the bill of sale? I don't have the truck anymore

A: No, you would have to show proof of insurance that was valid when you got ticketed. You have what is called late compliance and tickets do not get dismissed for late compliance, it just makes you eligible for Court Supervision. The Police Officer has no clue what they are talking about. You need to bring all of your documentation to Court with you and you should get Court Supervision and a fine. DO NOT miss Court because if you do, a conviction will enter and your license will be suspended.
