Chicago, IL asked in Domestic Violence for Illinois

Q: I have a Domestic Violence question. I had my boyfriend arrested on some false allegations.

I sent affidavit to states attorney of what I did and that I was sorry and possibly to much of my meds and was angry at the time. I did do a video statement. I understand they can continue pursuing regardless. He has a private attorney that I'm not sure is doing all he can. His bond is insanely high 250000. Would it be a good or bad idea to go in person to explain to the judge that I lied?

A: You are not allowed to speak to the judge by yourself. You should talk to your boyfriend's lawyer and ask that lawyer how to proceed. He is being paid to help your boyfriend and you and he are on the same side.

A: Stop, you just admitted to a criminal offense. You need to hire a criminal defense attorney right away before you do anything else. DO NOT speak to anyone else until you have hired an attorney.
