Minneapolis, MN asked in Traffic Tickets for Minnesota

Q: My son received a ticket on 8/16 in Isanti County. The ticket is still not found today 9/18 in the system.

It was for speeding and he didn’t have proof of insurance. I have looked it up online and called the number on the ticket. How long do they have to submit this information?

A: The general statute of limitations is quite long. I’ve seen it take much longer than this for a ticket to get uploaded as officers are not always the most reliable. A lawyer could look into this with the police and courts and find out what is happening.

A: It will take a bit for the citation to show up, especially with COVID going on. Give it a couple of weeks.

A: It would be too late after three years. But I would avoid calling anyone. Just wait and see. Every now and then, something happens, or doesn't, to your benefit.
