Greeley, CO asked in Car Accidents for Colorado

Q: I was given a summons for careless driving. There was injury to a person and myself.

Was coming to a red light and was going to push my brake pedal and my foot slipped and I pressed the gas. What should I do?

A: A Colorado attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for almost a week and you need to take action immediately, as time is of the essence in two respects. You could repost under Traffic Tickets, because an attorney who handles those could advise you on your options with traffic court. I don't know how much time remains to respond to your summons, but you might avoid losing further time awaiting a response if you simply reached out to attorneys in that area. As for the injured person, I hope both of you are okay. If that person files a bodily injury claim against your insurance carrier, it would be better if the first notice of this accident to your carrier came from you instead of them. If you reach out to a Colorado attorney, they should be able to advise you more meaningfully. Good luck
