Clarksville, TN asked in Traffic Tickets for Tennessee

Q: If you are given a court date on your ticket why doesn’t it get thrown out if officer doesn’t appear??

The officer pulled myself and the person in front of me over for speeding. However he wrote me as going 5 mph faster than the person in front of me. I had been behind the same person for 3 miles, Since I stopped behind him at a red light. I was the required length behind him, it wasn’t like I was hundreds of feet behind and sped to catch up and pass him.

A: Not sure of your question. Tennessee gets continuances all the time, and you will need to be ready to defend yourself. Hire an attorney and try to get the speed violation to a non-reportable MPH.
