Q: If I report a gun stolen and know who has it and it wasn’t obtained by burglary what are consequences they face

A: The person could surely face criminal charges for the illegal possession of a stolen weapon. This is even more complicated if the person in possession of the stolen has a prior felony conviction because they could also be charged with POWPO (possession of weapon by prior offender). And, worse yet, if the stolen gun is connected to any other ongoing investigations or open criminal matters, they could be connected to those collateral criminal actions and face charges on those other cases too.
