Q: My son is getting sued for $2000 for a property damage claim from an accident
He does not currently have a job to pay it, and they are threatening to take his license. Can they?
A: Yes for failure to obey the Financial Responsibility Statutes. He apparently did not have Liability Insurance. He may wish to hire a competent attorney to represent him in Court. The lawyer might mitigate the Damages awarded, or even better. Many times the Insurance Co just notifies the State DOS and they suspend the TNDL. It will cost money and time to get the TNDL reinstated, even if he was not liable or only partially liable (Comparative Fault).
