Q: What recourse do I have if the child support office messed up my child support and have not received anything in 2mo?
My support was lowered in sept. I continued to received the same support in sept and oct because the child support office had not processed the court order yet. I had not received anything since Oct 7th and was told by them that was due to the modification and had been paid more in sept/oct. Made sense, but 11/2 i mysteriously received a lesser amount. That was the last time I received anything. Since then I found out that they put a stop on support because they couldn’t figure out what was owed to me or my ex husband. I inquired again a week ago and was told that my payment recently received was put towards another obligation my ex has. They are now saying it’s his payrolls fault and have reached out to them. This all sounds like a bunch or malarkey to me. I’m simply sick of it. Not sure who to speak with. These are hard times. I have not received anything at all for practically the entire month of November and December has made things very difficult.
A: I am sorry to hear about your situation. Everything that you are describing sounds possible. For example, your ex's payment could have been garnished for another debt. You might request a copy of the support documentation from the caseworker to review or ask to speak with a manager who might be able to explain the situation better.
