Q: I recieved 2 checks back from Georgia child support. Why would they send me 2 checks back
A: We would need more information to determine why you may have been provided two checks.

A: In general more information is needed. However, there are several possible answers to that question including, but not limited to, a change in the status of the child or the other parent (for example, the child has emancipated or custodial parent has given up custody of child to someone else due to incarceration or dependency action), whether you had arrears that have now been paid and you have been overpaying (rare, but not unheard of), or even a mistake on the part of the agency collecting and disbursing the checks to the other parent. If the child support order was established through the state agency that handles child support you can contact them directly for additional information. If not, you may want to check with court to see if there has been a court-ordered change to your child support order.
