A: I don't know what could happen without knowing more facts. He "could" have a case of self-defense. It's important that he gets an attorney immediately. To prove his case he will need witnesses and any other evidence that it was self defense. You can help by gathering as much information as you can and providing it to the attorney when he gets one. Good Luck!

A: He can be charged with almost any of the 9 homicide Statutes in TN. Aggravated Assault or Attempted Murder are also possibilities, plus many other possible crimes. Unfortunately self-defense is an affirmative defense only available at trial, not pre-trial. It can be brought up at a Preliminary Hearing in Sessions, but it is not a dispositive motion. He needs a competent attorney today.
