Q: Child Support in Louisiana
I live in Louisiana, I have 2 daughters from a previous marriage one is 20 years old and currently a full time student in college and the other is 18 years old and also in college. Am I required by law to continue to pay child support until my children graduate from College? I have heard that 19 is the maximum age in Louisiana that you are required to pay regardless if they are in college or not.
A: You can stop paying child support immediately for both. If child support is being garnished, hire a child support lawyer immediately.

A: Following up on the post of attorney Badeaux-----in answer to your question, NO, however, I would encourage you to review the order(s)/judgment(s) in effect regarding child support and see if the language discusses termination/expiration. If it does, then follow that. If you do not agree with the language therein, then contact a family attorney to review options.
