Dallas, GA asked in Domestic Violence for Georgia

Q: Can you please tell me if my 16 year old is eligible for family violence with the things that she is experiencing

She is in my full custody and visitation with her father. He is verbally abusive and he grits his teeth and hits the wall near her body.. he then isolates her from her phone, computer, and puts her in a closet with no Windows and a camera. She is threatened by false accusations of unruly juvenile and juvenile delinquent if she doesn’t conform to obedience and she is not allowed to talk to me unless she is on speaker and she is only given 10 seconds. When she called 911 and the police arrived he told the police that she is a delinquent child and he is enforcing rules and she needs to be taught to appreciate the things he does. When I talked to the officer he said that my ex told them that I was unfit and she was out of control and she was a spoiled child who was told to lie. He threatens her with loosing me and she is interviewed by authorities in his presence. He is making up the delinquent items so she looses the ability to choose my house.

A: I advise you to retain a family lawyer with criminal experience, as the behavior you describe is indefensible as well as harmful to the child. A Guardian Ad Litem will be able to establish the reality your child faces and will be an independent witness for the court.
