Q: My wife and I are moving out of an abusive household with her step father and he will not let us leave peacefully.

He will not let us leave and believes that he is the "patarch” of the house and what he says goes. He has threatened to shoot my wife multiply times and he thinks it’s a joke what can I do because now we are leaving and he will not let us leave

A: If you are being threatened, call the police. If you are an adult, you are allowed to leave.

A: If you and your wife are adults, then leave. You don't need his permission. If he tries to stop you, call 911 and report that you are being held against your will.

A: If you are over the age of 18 you don’t need his permission to leave, you can just leave (same with your wife). If he’s threatening to shoot you then it would be wise to call the police and get assistance.
