Fort Worth, TX asked in Family Law and Adoption for Louisiana

Q: Yes my fiancee and I live in Louisiana, and a close family friend is living with use because she really has no other opt

opportunity to live anywhere else but in the streets or what would be called couch surfing! She is 26 weeks pregnant with a boy and doesn't want him because she has no stability, financial help, and has a drug problem when not pregnant! She has two other children being cared for by family member but they do not want this baby! She came to us and asked if we would take him and give him our last name, and raise him as ours because she can not. She doesn't know who the father is either, what do we need to do because we do not nor does she want to see this baby boy in the system and she only wants use to have him

A: You and your fiancé should consult with an attorney who handles adoptions as soon as possible There are steps that should be taken prior to the child's birth. Also, you and your significant other should consider getting married, as the stability of your relationship will be an issue for the court to consider.

A: Hire an adoption attorney now and try to keep her away from drugs while pregnant.
