Cumming, GA asked in Divorce for Georgia

Q: My wife has been an alcoholic for years. Now that our youngest child just turned 14, I want a divorce.

Does claiming alcoholism as a fault have any strategic advantage? I have proof as to how it has adversely effected the kids.

A: If your 14 year old wants to love with you, that will make your case easier. If you are able to prove she has an alcohol issue, that may impact custody and parenting time.

A: You should consult with an attorney who can review the facts of the case and help you with the proper course of action. It may impact custody issues, depending on the details.
