Q: I'm looking for way to file for divorce with out a lawyer from my wife. We don't have kids together nor any assets.
She drinks heavily and recently threatened to kill me and pull a knife on me. I had to call the police on her and she was taken away to jail. She was charged with felonious assault.
A: You can go to your county's courthouse and they may have a legal assistance center or otherwise have available the documents you need to start the process. You don't need a reason - Michigan is a no-fault divorce state.
