Q: My husband was arrested for a warrant from florida. The judge has giving Florida 20 to pick him up. If not what happens?
A:
Interstate extradition is complex. But if what your husband is accused of doing in Florida is serious enough to trigger a nationwide warrant, you should expect Florida will carry through and extradite him. There are many exceptions to the timeline, so don't think that if he sits for 20 days he'll be home free.
If at all possible, your husband's best bet would be to simultaneously bond out here in Michigan, and retain an attorney in Florida to begin negotiating those charges. He then can arrange to make the trip to Florida himself, which is a lot better than the transport option that will be provided by the state - possibly involving 12-14 hours shackled in a van, with overnight stops in multiple states and jail facilities before reaching Florida.
