Columbus, GA asked in Criminal Law for Georgia

Q: Is there a law that says if an inmate in a county jail ask for a COVID test they have to be given that test?

The inmate ask, on three different occasions, after symptoms began and that was 10 days ago. He was put in a dorm with more inmates that were tested and showed positive and quarantined with them.

A: There is not a specific law that requires a jail to provide COVID tests on request. However, if they are concerned about their health, I would recommend they raise this concern with their attorney so that they can address the issue with the jail staff.
