A: This may sound stupid and harkens to the age-old computer advice to make sure you turned power on: did your daughter have ownership or authority over the vehicle sufficient to give you permission to use it? In other words, who owned the vehicle? If she doesn't, then she can't give you lawful permission to use it.

Second line of questioning is how was the vehicle stolen? Perhaps the insurance company smells a scam for whatever reason?

If your daughter owns the car, then I think she has the ability to rectify the situation. Has she or will she do so?
