Island Lake, IL asked in Personal Injury for Illinois

Q: is there anything I can do about something that happened nearly 3 years ago?

I was working in my yard splitting rocks with a pickaxe when the pickaxe broke the metal head flew up and hit me in the back of the head my friends began to take me to the hospital until someone in the backseat dialed emergency services in which the they pulled us over after over the phone i said we are not pulling over as I could see the hospital they stopped us and forced me into an ambulance and was taken to the hospital a block away after being seen but refused to accept medical attention I was questioned by two officers in which asked what had happened I did mention about consuming a marijuana brownie and was asked where I would have went if they had not pulled us over and I replied to walmart or something they left we left but later that week I was charged by the fire department about four thousand because the police used a firetruck to stop traffic to pull us over we did pull over once within sight of the police

A: An Illinois attorney could advise best, but your post remains open for two weeks. As a general matter nationwide, when a call is made to the dispatcher and an ambulance responds, there's going to be a bill, regardless of whether it's a fire department, police, or other agency's ambulance, with some limited exceptions for volunteer services. Unfortunately, the passage of so much time does not help here, as the bill may have evolved into collections or other elevated state of recovery by now. You could see if it's possible to arrange a quick consult with an attorney, to learn whether it would be cost-effective or viable to involve an attorney. If there was a health insurance plan in existence at the time, they could have considered a bill. But if such a claim was not made at the time, it could be difficult to explore that now - there are generally timelines for submitting such claims, and although ambulance services sometimes enjoy some leeway there in terms of submitting claims, three years is a long time. You could look into that before reaching out to attorneys. Good luck
