Q: My child support case is closed, my son is 19 years old. He is going to file for SSDI. will they reopen my CS case?
my son was diagnosed with a mental illness due to drug use at 17. He is now 19 years old. My case with child support is closed bc he reached age of emancipation and was graduated . I do not owe arrears. Based on this information, will child support be able to open a new case or reopen the closed case based on him receiving ssdi, if he qualifies and is approved for disability.
A: Based on the information contained in your post, there is no reason listed for child support to open your case.
A: They may reopen support case if he is adjudged disabled due to mental illness...not due to drug use.
