Lake City, FL asked in Real Estate Law and Business Law for Florida

Q: Should I pursue legal representation?

I recently purchased a mobile home through a local dealer. When we bought the land we didnt realize before that we were going to need to lift the home due to being near a river and in a flood plain. So during financing none of the paperwork reflected it. After we found out we got with the dealer and they sent a quote from one of their contractors for 25,000 and we agreed we would get the home lifted with no steps or a/c pad for that price. I wrote a check out to the dealer and gave it to them, they proceeded to cash the check and we waited around 4-5 months before our home was ever delivered to the property. About 2 weeks before the home was delivered the dealer emails me(i have all of this in threads) and says he wants to save me from paying taxes through his business and I could pay the contractor directly I said I would be okay with that as long as I had a quote. The contractor wont respond to them or me, and they are trying to refund the 25,000. I cant find another contractor.

A: Before you decide whether "to pursue legal representation" you should concentrate on getting your $25,000 back from the dealer immediately.

Unless you stop trying to get them to do the work you wanted then to do you may end up being unable to get your $25,000 back, and will still not have a contractor to elevate the mobile home.

Stop relying on the dealer to get a contractor and do whatever is necessary to get the $25,000 back ASAP.

Then AFTER you have the money consider hiring a lawyer to help you find a reputable contractor to do what's needed.
