Bradenton, FL asked in Personal Injury for Florida

Q: What happens after a trial is declared void in a civil case in Florida? What should I do next?

ON AUGUST 23, 2022, I WAS GRANTED A MISTRIAL OF MY LAWSUIT; THE JURY HAD NOT HEARD THE CASE NOR THE COMPLETION OF THE FIRST TESTIMONY IN SAID CASE. "A MOTION FOR MISTRIAL GRANTED ATTORNEYS TO CONTACT JUDGE BY AUGUST 24, 2022 WITH STIPULATION FOR CONTINUANCE DATE". MY ATTORNEY QUITS MY CASE ON THE DAY HE WAS TO CONTACT THE JUDGE REGARDING A STIPULATION FOR A CONTINUANCE DATE AND FILED A MOTION TO WITHDRAW ON AUGUST 26, 2022. HOW MUCH TIME DO I HAVE TO SECURE A NEW ATTORNEY TO FACILITATE THIS PROBABLE TRANSITION? SHOULD I FILE A MOTION OF CONTINUANCE PRO SE? IF THE JUDGE RELEASES MY ATTORNEY, I WILL CERTAINLY NEED A NEW ATTORNEY, BUT FOR RIGHT NOW, I NEED TO SECURE MY FATE.

A: Yes, you should file a pro-se motion for a continuance immediately. Include a proposed date and time for the continued trial.
