Asked in Traffic Tickets for Tennessee

Q: Why do I have to pay court costs on a dismissed ticket?

So I got a ticket in Germantown Tn. It was for speeding and expires tags. I went to court and was given option to take take the defensive driver course. Went to next court date provided them certificate for the course completion and with my tags up to date. Yet they still charged me court cost on both infractions. 105 for speeding ticket and 150 for tags. And they would only give me 2 weeks max to pay this. If the ticket was dismissed why are they allowed to charge court costs on dismissed ticket?

A: Apparently Judge ordered it Dismissed With Costs. You are lucky, as no points are added to your MVR. If you want, you could ask the Judge to plea guilty, then also pay a Fine. Trial is not a good option on speed violations.
