Q: Can I sue my soon to be ex husband for causing my family to be homeless?
Hi! I am in desperate need of an attorney. I have already filed for divorce, but need a lawyer who is versed in the ways of a narcissist. I reached out to Georgia Legal Aid for assistance with this, but was denied due to funding. I’m turning to this community because I have limited funds myself, but the judge in a previous case ordered me to find an attorney as soon as possible regarding this divorce. Any possible referrals?
A: A judge can't order you to find an attorney. You can always choose to represent yourself, legally you have that right. Now the judge may have told you to get an attorney because they may really think you need one. But that's not an order. You don't sue someone for making you homeless. So I would need more details on what you think you have grounds for in order to file a suit of any kind. If you're looking for an attorney in your divorce case, then sure, I think everyone should hire an attorney to represent them in a divorce, even if you are an attorney. Reach out to attorneys directly and some of them will offer you a free or low-cost consultation to discuss your issues and how they can assist you.
