Brooklyn, NY asked in Family Law for New York

Q: Can a family court Judge ban you from reporting concerns to ACS and/or law enforcement?

Several calls were made from a child's mother, another family member and mandated reporters concerning the welfare of the child. The judge forbade anymore calls at the court date following the incident.

If another incident (child abuse/neglect - reported from the child) legitimately happens to the child, wouldn't the parent be in trouble for not reporting it?

Can this be considered permanent? Is a violation of civil rights to not be able to contact law enforcement?

A: If a judge deems the calls unwarranted and an abuse, the judge can order them to cease.
