Atlanta, GA asked in Child Custody and Child Support for Georgia

Q: I didnt word my quesrion right. Sorry. But this time i belive i did

I didn't word My question clearly enough. Physical custody was obtained through the court system. This is what I would consider ghost arrears, in other words my last payment in December 2020 should have finalized and closed the case with zero arrears remaining. F a st forwarding to this November I'm notified of a 1091.00 arrears by the suspension of my license. Explain how this occurs. The case has long since been closed through the courts and yet here I am paying again.

A: There isn't a way to answer your question. It's too specific and an attorney would have to review the court orders as well as all payments made in order to advise you if you are correct or not. Given the small amount, you'd pay a lawyer much more to figure it out, it may make sense to try to go to child support enforcement on your own to resolve it or just pay it.

A: We can't explain what transpired in a situation where we have seen absolutely no pleadings, motions, orders, or case documents whatsoever. You should speak directly with an attorney where you can clearly state what has happened during a consultation.
