Q: These charges have caused serious harm to my reputation and has costed me many job opportunities. Can I fight this?
2 years ago I was followed for 15m by a cop for no reason. I was pulled over after hitting the line on the side of road. It was night and I couldn’t tell it was a cop. Him following me for that amount of time was making me nervous so every turn I took he took and as I looked in my rear view to see if I was still being followed he turned on the blue lights. I veered off a little and my tire touched the line on the side of the road. That was his reason for ticketing me. The charges were reckless driving and a second charge of “improper use of vehicle/ equipment” or something extreme close to that if that’s not the right term. I went to school for criminal justice I know that’s a tactic they use. But he caused me to veer off and it wasn’t extreme at all and I corrected normal nothing reckless at all. He purposely wrote an unreadable ticket and told me it was “just a citation and it’ll go away when I pay off the fee” 2 yrs later it’s costing me jobs still. Is there any way I can fight this
A: Go to the Court Clerk and get a copy of the Citation. If dismissed, then it can be expunged. If a conviction, only a few crimes can be expunged. Most convictions are permanent on your record. Take the Citation to an attorney for his opinion.
