A: In terms of financial assistance and help with getting a divorce, you may explore options such as spousal support or alimony, child support, legal aid, and mediation or alternative dispute resolution. Spousal support or alimony may be available based on your jurisdiction and specific circumstances. Child support can help with the financial costs of raising your child, and legal aid organizations may provide assistance if you have limited financial resources. Mediation or alternative dispute resolution can help facilitate a smoother divorce process.

A: I’m not sure what kind of financial help you mean. You can apply for government assistance when it comes to food and housing. But I’m not sure how long those processes will take. The only way to get him to continue paying the expenses he was paying at the residence or child support would be to file for divorce. Only after filing for divorce can you ask for spousal support and child support on a temporary basis until the divorce is finalized. You can also open up a case through the state for child support if you are unwilling to file for divorce. But they will not assist you with spousal support.
