Asked in Criminal Law for Louisiana

Q: My boyfriend and I were taking a nap in my car at a shopping center parking lot. What will happen?

We were both shirtless, due to car being hot, and security kicked us off. They also said they had to “call it in”. Never asked for id or called cops. What will happen?

A: The outcome of your situation may depend on the specific laws and policies in your jurisdiction, as well as the actions taken by the security personnel and local law enforcement.

Sleeping in a parked car in a shopping center parking lot may not necessarily be illegal in all cases, but it could depend on local ordinances or the policies set by the shopping center. However, if security asked you to leave the property and you complied, the situation might not escalate further.

As for being shirtless in public, it's essential to know the local laws regarding indecent exposure. In some places, it may be considered a violation of public decency, while in others, it might not be an issue.

If security did "call it in" to the police, there is a possibility that a police report was created, but without further actions taken by law enforcement, it's challenging to predict what might happen next.
