Chicago, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: Reckless Driving Citation

I was driving on the highway and noticed the driver behind me experiencing severe road rage, she tried to run myself and my son off the road and was visibly extremely angry. I was taking an exit to get off the road away from her, I was several hundred feet in front of her taking the exit, when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into concrete. I called 911 and reported it and they told me to wait for the officer. She had no insurance on the vehicle and was not seriously injured. She told the officer I ran her off the road. The officer called me a couple hours later and told me I was being ticketed for reckless driving based on her statement she provided at the hospital and he emailed me the ticket. There were no witnesses that stopped and the officer reports no camera footage on the highway, although there are cameras. I’ve never had a speeding ticket or any prior traffic violations and my job is dependent on my driving record.
