Schaumburg, IL asked in Traffic Tickets for Illinois

Q: Hi I’m 22 yo and got 3 tickets and an I-bond in june the first ticket was for speeding 21-25 mph over the speed limit.

The second one was for improper lane usage the cop claims I cut him off and 4 other people how ever I requested all possible footages from that day and there was no dash camera evidence. The 3rd one was for suspended plates which I had no idea I had because my car is under my brothers insurance. During the winter the dmv sent out a letter to my brother asking for proof of insurance and instead of showing it to me he asked my mom if I had insurance and she said I did and then threw the letter away. Never was informed about my license being suspended but I took care of it immediately it’s no longer suspended. I do think I have previous speeding tickets on my record not exactly sure how many I will try and print that out sometime this weekend. I was thinking of pleading guilty to speeding because I apologized multiple times to the cop about that and pleading not guilty to the reckless driving charge. Not sure what to do it’s a 3,000 dollar fine if I don’t show up to court.

A: The $3,000 means $300 bond but regardless of the amount, you don't want to skip out They will suspend your license until the cows come home so you need to deal with it.

Too much for you to handle on your own. Find a local lawyer in the county you received the ticket. Looks like you are up north. Find a traffic lawyer here.
