Q: Georgia dfcs wants me to legitimize child. child was born in florida, mom & i affirmed im the bio & i signed birth cert.
i signed Florida birth certificate, mother and i affirmed im the biological father with the doctor. i was present at the hospital during her birth. i know florida has a putative father registry to confirm paternal rights and will register, however cannot do an instant search or register and the state only accept the forms filled out and returned via snail mail. mom and i are not married, but are together and staying in the same house with our daughter. does georgia recognize florida putative father registry?
A: You will need to legitimize in GA if the child is now in GA, there is a DFCS case in GA and the court is telling you that you need to file legitimation. Hire an attorney.
