A: If your fiancée is from Haiti and the embassy there is closed, you may want to explore whether the U.S. Department of State has designated an alternative post for processing K-1 visas for Haitian nationals. This information can often be found on the U.S. Embassy's website for Haiti or by contacting the National Visa Center. In some cases, visa applications may be redirected to a U.S. embassy or consulate in a neighboring country.

It's also advisable to stay updated on any announcements from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) regarding changes in protocol due to embassy closures. Be prepared for potential delays and ensure that all documentation is kept current, as expiration dates for certain stages of the process may be affected. Legal counsel experienced in immigration law may provide guidance tailored to your specific situation. It's important to regularly check official communications and be responsive to any requests for additional information or documentation.
