Columbia, IL asked in Products Liability for Illinois

Q: What type of lawyer do I seek out for damages caused by a hair product?

About 2-3 months ago I bought a hair curl cream from Marshall's retail store. After 3 weeks of every other day use, my hair looked shorter. Maybe a little less than an inch. I thought maybe stress was causing it but then after I thought about it, that wouldn't be causing my hair to just break. Stress would cause hair loss from the roots. Anyways, in November 2023, I measured my hair. I lost 5-6 inches of my hair from breakage. I have always kept my hair 18-22 inches long. Now, its up to my shoulders. No scissors have touched my hair for months. I do not use drugstore hair products. and I do not use permanent hair color. I use semi permanent hair color which does not damage hair. I'm going to buy extensions next week because I am so upset and embarrassed. I don't leave my hair down anymore because I don't want anyone I know to see this. My hair was extremely thick. Not anymore. The only thing I ever liked about me was my hair. I'd get daily compliments. Not anymore.

A: An Illinois attorney could advise best, but your question remains open for a week. I'm sorry for your ordeal. The answer to your question is that it would be a product liability attorney. They deal with defective/dangerous products. Good luck
