In April of 2023, my lyfted car that I was renting fr hertz had been stolen along with my cell phone. It was stolen by this guy that came over to buy some speakers from my boyfriend. I fell asleep and when I woke up my cell phone and my keys were missing. I went outside and my car was also stolen. I reported the incident to New Hope Police Department. Notify hertz and lyfted. Filled out some forms and that was it. A few days later my boyfriend bumped into the guy who stole the car. He took off in the stolen car and ran my boyfriend over. My boyfriend could had died. Now a year later I get this collection fr hertz saying I owe 12000 for that car. I had insurance on that car through hertz. It was already reported stolen. And later on the new hope police notify me saying that car wasn’t register to hertz that vin number didn’t match car also. Im not even sure what all that means. What should I do

A: Apparently, your rental car was stolen. You were required have it properly insured. The facts your boyfriend was ran over and your phone was also stolen are irrelevant. I don't know what to say about the vehicle registration. Your insurance company should be addressing this matter.
