Holiday, FL asked in Divorce and Family Law for Florida

Q: my lawyer withdrew from my case the day after the judge denied relief . I was given no notice along with a stipulation

my lawyer withdrew from my case the day after the judge denied relief ,, There is has been lack of communication this whole time from I have felt left in the dark ,, Then to have them withdraw and filing a motion with courts saying I broke my employer contract and then another email was sent right after that saying that there is a stipulation saying that they will not have to have a hearing if I signed something about not being prejudice to the lawyer and in all honesty I have not what happened and was not told ahead so i could not find counsel,, No court hearing is set for trial but my soon to ex husband is requesting to go to trial now since has not offered a settlement and was unwilling to work in mediation .. So i have to issues now on hand. 1. the lawyer with withdrawing the way they did and 2 getting another lawyer and explain the situation and take on my divorce case right in them in the middle. I confused an scared and not protected.

A: The most common reason for a lawyer to withdraw stating that a client has broken their contract is because the client failed to pay the lawyer's fees as agreed. This is a perfectly legitimate reason for a lawyer to withdraw.

While you can hire a new lawyer to represent you, expect to pay more to have an attorney appear at this late stage of the case and have to review all of the work up to this point on an accelerated basis.
